Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)
The Brazilian Journal of Case Reports (BJCR) acknowledges that Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools (such as large language models, text generators, and image-generation systems) may be used to support research and manuscript preparation. However, their use must be transparent, ethical, and compliant with best scholarly practices.
Authors may use GenAI tools only to assist with language editing, grammar correction, or readability improvements. GenAI tools must not be listed as authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the integrity, originality, or accuracy of the work.
The use of GenAI is not permitted for:
-
Generating original research data, results, or analyses;
-
Fabricating, falsifying, or manipulating data, images, or references;
-
Replacing critical intellectual contributions by the authors.
Disclosure Requirement
Authors are required to explicitly disclose any use of GenAI tools in the manuscript, specifying:
-
The name of the tool used;
-
The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing);
-
Confirmation that authors take full responsibility for the content.
Failure to disclose the use of GenAI, or misuse of such tools, may result in manuscript rejection or retraction, in accordance with BJCR’s ethical policies.
Responsibility and Ethics
All authors remain fully responsible for:
-
The originality of the content;
-
The accuracy of data and interpretations;
-
Compliance with ethical, legal, and copyright standards.
BJCR follows international recommendations from organizations such as COPE, ICMJE, and Springer Nature regarding the responsible use of GenAI in scholarly publishing.
